Elsie Burnett

Elsie Rae Burnett of Singer was born Feb. 7, 1935 in Fawil, Texas and passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 in Lake Charles.

She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. She loved to cook and was known for her famous biscuits. She loved gardening and her grand kids.

She is survived by her children, Debra Mae Harrell and her husband, Dan “Buddy” of Newton, Texas, Larry Ivan Burnett and his wife Joanne of Singer, and Archie Dean Burnett of Singer; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchild, and sister, Frankie Cofty of Evans.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil “Bulo” Burnett; son, Bert Burnett; parents, William and Vada Stark; four brothers; and two sisters.

The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Good Hope Baptist Church. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Good Hope Baptist Church. Interment followed at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
