The City Council of the City of DeQuincy met in special session on Monday, June 21, 2021 4:00 p.m. at the DeQuincy City Hall, 300 N. Holly Street, DeQuincy, Louisiana with the following members present: Denise Maddox, Judy Landry, Ronda Jacobs and Mark Peloquin. Absent: Daisy Cole.
The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Denise Maddox and the roll was
called with the above result.
There was no public input.
A motion was made by Ronda Jacobs and seconded by Judy Landry to authorize Mayor Riley Smith to proceed with the development of the LCDBG proposal taking into consideration citizen participation requirements and views of the governing body. Motion carried as follows: Yeas: Judy Landry, Mark Peloquin, Denise Maddox and Ronda Jacobs. Nays: None. Absent: Daisy Cole. Abstain: None.
A motion was made by Judy Landry and seconded by Ronda Jacobs to adopt a Citizen Participation Plan/Citizen Complaint Procedure and appoint Pat Brummett, City Clerk, as Citizen Complaint Officer for compliance with the LCDBG (Louisiana Community Development Block Grant) program. Motion carried as follows: Yeas: Judy Landry, Mark Peloquin, Denise Maddox and Ronda Jacobs. Nays: None. Absent: Daisy Cole. Abstain: None.
A motion was made by Mark Peloquin and seconded by Ronda Jacobs to adopt a Procurement Policy for compliance with the LCDBG Program. Motion carried as follows: Yeas: Judy Landry, Mark Peloquin, Denise Maddox and Ronda Jacobs. Nays: None. Absent: Daisy Cole. Abstain: None.
A motion was made by Ronda Jacobs and seconded by Judy Landry to authorize Mayor Riley Smith to proceed with the procurement and selection of professional services for the purpose of assisting in the development of the LCDBG proposal and implementation of the project. Motion carried as follows: Yeas: Judy Landry, Mark Peloquin, Denise Maddox and Ronda Jacobs. Nays: None. Absent: Daisy Cole. Abstain: None.
A motion was made by Judy Landry and seconded by Mark Peloquin to adopt a resolution ratifying the signature of Mayor Riley Smith on a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement between the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury and the city of Dequincy accepting $90,000 in funds to be used toward the payment of debris removal. Motion carried as follows: Yeas: Judy Landry, Mark Peloquin, Denise Maddox and Ronda Jacobs. Nays: None. Absent: Daisy Cole. Abstain: None.
A motion was made by Mark Peloquin and seconded by Ronda Jacobs to approve a short term lease, pending legal council’s approval, for approximately 50-60 18 wheeler trailers to be placed on city property west of town on the Industrial Airpark property on Hwy. 12 W., for the sum of $10,000 for a minimum of 4 months. Motion carried as follows: Yeas: Judy Landry, Mark Peloquin, Denise Maddox and Ronda Jacobs. Nays: None. Absent: Daisy Cole. Abstain: None.
There being no further business to discuss, a motion was made by Ronda Jacobs and seconded by Mark Peloquin to adjourn the meeting.
