Alice Danclair, a member of L.O.V.E. Community Mission, was contacted by a cousin belonging to the Creative Hearts Crochet Club of Lake Charles to make a donation to seniors in the DeQuincy area. The club donated crocheted hats, scarves and throws to DeQuincy Elderly Housing units, Park Place, DeQuincy Care Center and area seniors living alone.
Creative Hearts, a crochet club, was started out of love and compassion when one of their founding members lost someone to brain cancer. They saw a need, and that was the beginning of the club.
Ilene Dickens, the founder, teaches crafts in Lake Charles. One of the crafts she teaches is crochet. Other members are Maxcine Smith, Linda White, Theresa Guillory and Carolyn Wilrye.
