Jessie “J. B.” Beauton Hayes, 80, was born Jan. 18, 1941 and passed away Friday, Aug. 20, 2021.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Hayes; children, Kay Wilburn, and Rev. Jessie Russell Hayes and wife, Alisha; grandchildren, Joshua Nordenstorm, Nathaniel “Nate” Wilburn and wife, Mattie, Kaleb Wilburn and wife, Rachel, Ashton Dorrow and husband, Austin, and Addison Hayes; great-grandchildren, Lleyton and Landry; sisters, Margaret Guillory, Christine Sharp, and Joyce “Tiny” Placker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Edna Hayes; sisters, Dorothy Webb, Emagene Satterwhite, Catherine Mayfield, Edna Ruth Ainsworth, and Nancy Burnes.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, with the funeral service following at 1 p.m. at Temple Christian Center. The graveside will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 7, at South Park Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
