Tigers earn first win of season against South Beauregard

By Mike Suchanek

DeQuincy and 3A South Beauregard renewed their rivalry this past Friday night in Longville with DeQuincy coming out on top 21-14 to earn their first victory of the season.

After a scoreless first quarter, South Beauregard got on the score board first as Jesse Shuff scored on a 3 yard run. However the kick failed. DeQuincy came right back and knotted the score up with a 4 yard Taije Ceaser touchdown. Kohen Cormier was true on the extra point to give the Tigers the 7-6 half times lead.

Just like last week, DeQuincy came out after half time on fire scoring twice in the frame to go up 21-7. Scoring for the Tigers was Reese Ashworth on a very nice 57 yard run and Taije Ceaser added his second touchdown of the night scoring from 10 yards out to put the Tigers on top for good. Cormier was good on both extra points.

South Beauregard’s Ethan Jurquet closed out the scoring for the night on a 4 yard run and tacked on the extra point on a pass from Shuff.

This was a big win for the Tigers against a bigger South Beauregard squad. Leading the Tigers in rushing on the night was Hudson Synder and Reese Ashworth both with 59 yards, Taije Ceaser added 26 and TJ Wood added 39 yards rushing.

Reese Ashworth added 68 yards on 5 of 9 passing.

Gavin Gary added 43 yards receiving on 4 receptions and Taije Ceaser had 15 yards receiving.

There were no defensive stats available because of a computer malfunction.

Next up for the Tigers is a home game this Friday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.

Go Tigers!
