Kortland McManus

Kortland Ramsey McManus suddenly left this world for his Heavenly home on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021. He was born Apr. 30, 1992 in Lake Charles. He attended Sam Houston High School in Moss Bluff where he played tenors in the Pride & Spirit Band and was loved and adored by his peers who called him “Tiny.” Music was a large part of his life as he also played drums for First Baptist Church Moss Bluff. He furthered his education at Sowela Technical College in Lake Charles where he obtained an associate’s degree in drafting.

In 2019, he married Gabrialle Gonzalez and they began their marriage in Houston, Texas. Together they attended Victory Worship Center where he played the drums during worship and was always happy to lend a helping hand in any capacity he saw a need to be filled. With a servant’s heart, and never-ending love for Jesus he was loved by all in their church family.

A loving son, friend, father, and husband, Kortland cherished every relationship he made and always made family time a priority. He was blessed with two children, Elijah and Ayva, who he adored with all his heart. He was an amazing father to them.

If you knew Kortland, you knew how he loved playing games of every kind, inside or outside, with anyone that would join him. He loved to entertain and grill for his friends and pouring hot sauce on everything. His home-grown peppers were his pride and joy. His time with his friends were priceless and he formed amazing relationships with each one of them. They knew his commitment and friendship was true and genuine. He had an energy and personality that filled the room when he entered it.

He enjoyed building and designing, especially when it was a challenge. His interests were vast. He liked collecting pieces of art, knives and guns of all sorts, and practically had a watch for every day of the month. He was also a foodie and enjoyed trying new and different types of foods of all cultures.

He is survived by his wife, Gabrialle Gonzalez McManus; children, Ayva McManus and Eli McManus; parents, Stewart and Cyndie McManus; brothers, Cameron McManus (financee’, Maradi Hang), Jonathon McManus (wife, Sydney McManus); grandparents, Earl and Ann McManus, Peggy LaRocque, and mother and father-in-law, Edmund and Pat Gonzalez.
