Kathleen Elaine Shoemake, 81, of DeQuincy, passed into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021 in her home surrounded by family.
Kathleen was born May 13, 1940 to her late parents, James Sr. and Ola Dougharty in Pineville. She took great pride in taking care of her home, gardening, cooking, and most of all caring for her family.
She is survived by her children, Lisa Nortman (Terry) of DeQuincy, Misty Ponczek Shoemake (Tasha) of Austin, Texas; brother, Preston Dougharty (Gail) of DeQuincy; sister, Drusilla Wilkins (Danny) of DeQuincy; grandchildren, Kayla Pace (Lance), Kelly Menou (Philip), Skyla and Shelby P. Shoemake, Johnny Paul Shoemake, Jr., Jacob Ray Shoemake; along with seven great-grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Ray Shoemake; one son, Johnny Paul Shoemake, Sr.; her parents; one sister, Ethel Peterson; and four brothers, Chester Dougharty, Sammy Dougharty, Larry Dougharty, and James Dougharty, Jr.
Services were held at Temple Baptist Church in DeQuincy on Friday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Dwayne Hyatt officiating. Visitation was at Temple Baptist Church on Friday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial followed at Masonic Cemetery.
Services entrusted to Jordan and Amanda Mothershed of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
