Letha VanWinkle

Letha Perkins VanWinkle was born Nov. 15, 1949 and passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2021 at the age of 72.

Letha was a faithful member of The First United Pentecostal Church, a prayer warrior. She was an avid gardner, she loved flowers, especially her roses. In her younger years, she loved to hunt and taught her nephews how to hunt. She had a kind heart and would help anyone that was in need. Letha will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil “Buddy” Van Winkle; siblings, Mayona “Turtle” McDonald, Delma Perkins, Wanda Holley, Carl “Spud” Perkins, Billy Glenn Perkins and Iona “Nonie” Parker; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo Thomas Perkins and Amy Lee Stanley Perkins; siblings, Amos David Perkins, Bonnie Rosetta Royer and Virginia Lee Smith; brothers-n-law, Hansel Parker, Kirby Holley, Delbert Royer, Curtis Smith and Thomas “Bit” Perkins.

A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields. Pastor Carlton Jackson, Jr. of The First United Pentecostal Church, DeQuincy and Pastor Marshal Baggett of LifePoint Pentecostal Church of Sulphur officiated.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
