Tigers stun Port Allen

By Mike Suchanek

The DeQuincy Tigers went on a business trip last Friday to Port Allen and they handled business by pounding the Port Allen Pelicans right from the start in a 44-22 victory.

On the very first play after the kickoff Hudson Snyder found paydirt scoring the games first touchdown on a 68 yard run to put the Tigers up quickly 7-0.

After a defensive stop Reese Ashworth found Hudson Snyder in the end zone for a 21 yard touchdown to put the Tigers up 14-0 after the successful PAT.

In the second quarter Hudson Synder made it a hat trick scoring his third touchdown of the night on a 18 yard scamper to the end zone to put the Tigers up 21-8

Taije Ceaser got in on the scoring action before halftime scoring the Tigers final first half points on a great 45 yard run to the endzone to put the Tigers up comfortably 28-14.

Taije scored the only third quarter points of the third quarter with a 43 yard pick six that put the Tigers up 35-14.

In the 4th quarter Taije Ceaser scored the Tigers last touchdown of the night on a long 37 yard touchdown run to put the Tigers up 42-22.

Hudson Snyder added a safety at the end of the game to give the Tigers the 42-22 road victory.

Taije Ceaser once again had a excellent game rushing for 202 yards on 20 carries scoring two touchdowns rushing. Taije also had a touchdown on a interception in the third quarter.

Hudson Snyder also broke the century mark rushing as he has 119 yards on 10 carries scoring two touchdowns rushing. Hudson also had a receiving touchdown hauling in the Tigers lone completion for a 21 yard touchdown.
Reese Ashworth added 16 yards rushing while Gavin Gary added 4 yards to the Tigers 343 yards rushing total.

Quarterback Reese Ashworth only threw the ball 5 times completing just the one to Snyder for the 21 yard touchdown.

Defensively the Tigers were led by Quentin Pharris and Zach Chambers who each had 4 solo tackles. Quentin had two assisted tackles and 1 tackle for loss while Zach had 1 assisted tackle and 3 tackles for a loss. Gavin Gary, Shiloh Cotlong, and Eathan Guidry all had 3 tackles each. Gavin also had 2 assisted tackles while Cotlong and Guidry both had tackles for a loss. Hudson Snyder had 2 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss and Hunter Ardoin had 2 tackles and Wyatt LaVergne had 1 solo tackle.

On special Teams Kohen Cormier was perfect on the night hitting all 6 of his PATs.

The victory earned the Tigers a home game against number 5 the North Caddo Titans. North Caddo plays in District 1 of class 2A. They were 7-2 on the regular season with one game not played because of Covid. They beat Springfield in round 1 by the score of 54-6. So they can score points by the bunches so the defense will have Their hands full.

Let’s come out and support the home standing Tigers as this will probably be the last home game of the year.

The game will be Friday, Nov. 19, at Tiger Stadium right here in DeQuincy.

Go Tigers!
