DeQuincy bows out in second round

By Mike Suchanek

After the first round upset DeQuincy found itself at home hosting the 5th ranked Titans out of North Caddo. On this particular night the Titans proved to be the better team coming out on top of the Tigers, 58-28.

Hopes were high after the Tigers came out and took the ball down the field and quickly found the endzone as quarterback Reese Ashworth ran it in from 10 years out to put the Tigers up 7-0 after the Kohen Cormier PAT was good.

The lead was short lived as North Caddo scored on a 21 yard pass and a two point conversion to go up 8-7 at the end of the first quarter.

North Caddo opened the scoring in the second quarter scoring on a 10 yard pass once again the two point conversion was good to put the Titans up 16-7. Not to be out done, the Tigers came right back and scored back to back touchdowns both by Hudson Snyder on runs of 14 and 11 yards. Kohen Cormier added the PAT on the first score but the Tigers went for 2 on the second TD and it was no good to put the Tigers up 22-16. North Caddo scored on a long 63 yard run right before half to put the Titans up 24-22 at the half.

The second half was all North Caddo as they scored 5 touchdowns.

The Tigers did score one 3rd quarter touchdown as Ronald Courville scored on a 3 yard run to pull the Tigers within 10 at that point but the Titans would score three long touchdown runs of 52, 52 and 57 yards to close out the scoring and to end the season for our Tigers 58-28.

The Tigers only threw the ball twice completing one of those for 28 yards as quarterback Reese Ashworth hit Chris Simmons for the reception.

Hudson Snyder carried the ball 31 times for 164 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Reese Ashworth had 64 yards on 11 carries and one touchdown, and Ronald Courville had 33 yards on 10 carries with one touchdown.

On defense Shiloh Cotlong led with 3 solos and 1 assisted tackle. Reese Ashworth and Gavin Gary each had 2 solo tackles. Tristan Wood and Quentin Pharris each had one tackle. Hudson Snyder, Eathan Guidry and Zach Chambers each had 2 assisted tackles.

This is the end of the 2021 season for the Tigers and they ended it with 2 extra games going 6 wins and 6 loses.

Great season for all involved. Go Tigers! Row the boat!
