Railroad Museum Christmas Tree needs decorations

By Katy Haley

Two back-to-back hurricanes last year caused significant damage to the upstairs storage room at the DeQuincy Railroad Museum. As a result, we lost the 12-foot Christmas tree and numerous indoor decorations. This year a tall, live tree is being donated to the museum, and we would like to invite the public to participate in decorating a Community Christmas tree for visitors to enjoy.

We welcome any “Railroad” related ornaments, whether purchased or handmade, ribbon and lights to be used for the tree in the Museum. Teachers and students, as well as parents and children at home, can use this activity to bring civic awareness and a sense of participation and belonging back to our community. It has been a rough couple of years for everyone and we are excited to celebrate the Season with you all.

The DeQuincy Railroad Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and donations may be dropped off at the gift shop.
