Michael Sandlin

Michael James Sandlin, 67, of DeQuincy, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022 at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital.
He was born in Janesville, Wis. on Aug. 27, 1954. He received his Associate Degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. Michael retired as a Senior Measurement Specialist for Citgo, traveling all across the United States and various countries. Michael was a proud member of API (American Petroleum Institute).

He enjoyed riding his Harley, and over the course of 40 years, he had more than 27 of them. He loved picking blueberries and loving on his dog, Gravy. Michael was a family man and loved his grandbabies more than anything. Many people knew him as “Sandman”.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Valerie Sandlin; his mother, Melda “Tootie” Jane Sandlin; children, Katie Granger (Sambo) of DeQuincy, Shane Franklin of Ragley, Crystal Angelo (Clynt) of Cushing, Texas; brother, Pat Sandlin (Gayla) of Fayetteville, Ark.; sister, Mary Sue Sandlin of Bixby, Okla.; along with five grandbabies, Meigin Angelo, Evan Franklin, Raeleigh Granger, Gabi Angelo, and Caigin Angelo.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, James Sandlin.

A Celebration of Michael’s life will be held at First Baptist Church in DeQuincy on Friday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m., with Bro. Bruce Austin officiating. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church in DeQuincy on Thursday, Jan. 13, from 5 until 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Friday, from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Perkins Cemetery.
