On Thursday, Jan. 6 at approximately 12:32 a.m., the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call from a resident in the Oretta community. The caller advised that there was an unresponsive male subject laying on the ground at the residence.
Deputies responded to the residence and found the body of William Woodson, (b/m, DOB 3-5-96). Further investigation revealed that Woodson had multiple wounds of various types to his body.
Beauregard Sheriff’s Office detectives continued the investigation and identified Samuel A. Laughlin (w/m, DOB 2-18-98) as the suspect.
At approximately 1:07 p.m., Laughlin was placed under arrest for one count of Second Degree Murder and one count of Obstruction of Justice. Laughlin was booked into the Beauregard Parish Jail, with bonds to be set.
The investigation is on-going at this time. Woodson’s body was sent for an autopsy, with results pending.
