Vernie Lee Hunt, 52 of Alice, Texas passed away on Sunday, Apr. 24, 2022. He was born Apr. 1, 1970 in Ranger, Texas. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
He is survived by his stepmother, Joan Hunt of DeQuincy; his daughters, Loni Kenet Mallett, Lisa Marie Contreras and Ashley Hunt; siblings, Eula Ann Williams and husband, Greg, Kevin Thompson, Brenda Goodman, Robert Goodman, Wynette Jacobs, Michael Hunt and wife, Joni, Martha King and husband, Walter, Mark Hunt and wife, Tiffaney; six grandchildren, Genesis Marie Bennett, Kylie Alana Mallett and Roman Famous Rey Gonzales III, Faluan Samuel Contreras, and Nathan Daniel Contreras; along with numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Hunt; mother, Judy Jacobs; grandfather, Lee Hunt; grandmother, Sadie Marie Shy; and half brother, Ernest Kohler.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, at Dry Creek Cemetery in Dry Creek with Rev. Larry Talent officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
