?EMEGENCY ORDINANCE
NO. 942
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND RE-ENACT A PORTION OF ORDINANCE NO. 668D REGARDING PARAGRAPH V POLICY PROCEDURES AND TO PROVIDE FOR RELATED MATTERS.
Be it ordained by the City Council of DeQuincy, in legal session convened, that Sections A and J of Paragraph V Policy Procedures for the City of DeQuincy, Louisiana are hereby amended and re-enacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE V
POLICY PROCEDURES:
A.
All Department Heads including the DeQuincy Fire Department, Police Department, Gas Department, Public Works Department (Street and Sewer) and City Hall will develop a list of positions within their Departments that they deem to be “Essential” during emergency situations or natural disasters affecting the City of DeQuincy. Employees occupying those positions will be notified of the requirements of the position.

“Essential” employees required to work during emergency situations or natural disasters affecting the City of DeQuincy, will be paid at a rate of time and a half (1 ?) for each hour worked and approved by a supervisor. Hours worked must be documented on timesheets which will be given out by City Hall and must be signed by a supervisor. Any hours not documented correctly or not approved by the supervisor will not be included in emergency pay. Employees will be paid a maximum of 16 hours per day. Employees will not be paid for time spent on standby, cooking or any other non-productive activity. Supervisors will strictly adhere to these guidelines. Fire Department employees will be paid on an hourly basis at the rate of $30.00. The Fire Chief will be paid on an hourly basis at the rate of $37.50.
“Essential” and “Non-Essential employees not working will be informed as to where to report back to work and must report back within forty-eight (48) hours after being notified, or be subject to corrective disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
Payroll checks will be issued early, if possible, to assist employees in emergency situations caused by a natural disaster.
Said title having of Ordinance been read and Ordinance considered, on motion by Margaret Brown, seconded by Mark Peloquin to adopt the Ordinance. A record vote was taken and the following result was had:
